This is a good converter box, setup is a breeze and the picture and sound quality is good for something that is basically free with the coupon or $10 and under if you prowl the internet long and hard enough.
Like another reviewer stated, many people don't set these up right. First of all, rabbit ear antennas will not work unless it has a UHF loop. Most, if not all current DTV stations are on the UHF band. You need a proper antenna for these devices to work properly, a fact that is not readily mentioned. If you have an older UHF bowtie or set top antenna your set!
If you can, by all means use an outdoor antenna, the difference is incredible as compared to an indoor antenna.
Another misconception is that DTV is HDTV. IT IS NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The output of this and any other SDTV DTV box is standard definition.
This will not convert your current or older TV to HDTV, it's impossible.
And if you do have a modern flat panel HDTV the tuner is built in.
This device is only for existing televisions with analog tuners.
If you have an older version of an HD television with an analog only tuner, this will work but only at SDTV, you will need an HDTV converter box which puts out an HDTV signal.
DTV signals are much better than analog signals in terms of a much clearer picture and sound. But the signal is at much lower power than analog and requires an efficient antenna. |
Works great and there's no camera.

I bought two of these and installed one. The product works great; it does a good job of picking up signals in a rural area.
For the idiot who printed the Internet hoax info about the camera and microphone in these units: The "camera" is a piezo-electric speaker used to make the beeping sounds when the user presses a button or for any other purpose the system needs to beep to alert the user for. The "microphone" is a variable resistor.Magnavox TB110MW9 Digital to Analog Converter |

I suppose for a user that is used to cable or satelliete functionality this unit would be a step down - but if you have cable or satellite you wouldn't be using this, would you?
Even with my on-set rabbit ears my available channels more than tripled, and the channels I was getting marginally before come in crystal clear. I never had a channel guide with my antenna only setup, so I don't miss it. If I had 500 channels and was a hard-core viewer this might be a consideration, but for me its not.
The remote is a breeze to use compared to my friend's satellite remote; the buttons are well spaced and I rarely "fat-finger" anything. |

| It works. To get the same results attach antenna to the input and connect to TV via the output. Put batteries in the remote. Then plug the box into a hot wall plug. Box and TV must be on at the same time. |
MAGNAVOX TB110MW9 RB Digital TV (DTV) Converter Box was EASY TO SET UP TO MY OLD TV

I purchased this MAGNAVOX TB110MW9 RB Digital TV (DTV) Converter Box for my OLD ANTENNA TV in the Basement. I like to watch TV in my basement while I'm working.
I have not checked out many of the features, but it has ON-SCREEN PROGRAM GUIDE. It does an AUTOMATIC SEARCH FOR CHANNELS.
I'm glad that I did not have to set my old TV out in the front yard for garbage. The unit was EASY TO SET UP TO MY OLD TV.
